Fulfilling aspirations and dreams can put so much joy into our hearts. There is nothing better than a “sense of achievement”. It’s a feeling that one can’t readily describe, imagine accomplishing a life time ambition that was once all but a dream.
What are your dreams and aspirations? Take a moment – what do you want to achieve that will give you a sense of great joy, a sense of pride? For me it’s not about a feeling of satisfaction it is a lot more than that. It’s a sense of joy that comes from deep within, it’s a feeling of joy that’s contagious how blessed am I to see ‘my joy’ translate to joy for others.
Whatever your dreams and aspirations for the year ahead ensure you set goals that are realistic and manageable for your lifestyle. I would love to sing to a sell-out audience in Central Park. Realistically, it’s not going to happen, why not? Because I know my voice should be used for anything but singing, ‘flat’ was the word my kids used to describe my dulcet tones.
Moving on, I would love to meet Oprah; I’m not ruling that one out yet. Dreams, aspirations must be centred on something that gives you a sense of achievement, a sense of being, and a sense of enjoyment, sheer happiness.
Now that you know what you want, let’s move towards ‘action’. Goals don’t work without plans. We must have a plan, a workable plan. Identify what can make your plan work? What might get in the way for you? Sometimes we are authors of our own misfortunes, we have the power to make our goals happen, we also have the power to stop them. If it’s a deep ambition then you’ll make it happen. Most of all you need to remove any thoughts of ‘I’m not good enough, smart enough, clever enough’ and ‘can’t, won’t and shan’t’ speak is banished.
Taking action begins with small steps. Let’s not be over ambitious. It’s time to sow the seeds of growth. Take steady, small steps towards your dreams, and remember for your dreams and aspirations to work, ‘giving up’ is not an option.
